laptop shopping
Sep. 12th, 2008 03:56 pmThe Computer Fixers at Drexel estimate it will cost $200-$250 to fix my craptop, and it's sooo not worth it. Any ideas on what I should buy? My dream laptop would be a mini-PC that weighs under 3 pounds, has at least a 16 gb solid state hard drive (since I already have a big external HD and mostly use my laptop for internet), but would ALSO have a CD/DVD RW drive for movie watching on trips. I don't think such a thing exists, so I'm soliciting ideas from my friends on what I should get. I want:
* to spend no more than $1,000 - $1,300, but less would be awesome
* a CD/DVD RW drive
* lightweight if possible
* durability, since my last two laptops died of mechanical failure (connection to the screen on the first & connection to the power plug on the second)
* Windows XP if possible
* built-in webcam would be nice but not necessary
* new with warrantee is a must, no used or refurbs
